Ruby first discovered Zumba 9 years ago and fell in love with it because it combined dancing with Latin music, and it didn’t feel like exercising. Ruby enjoyed it so much that she became certified and has been teaching since April 2014. She is also certified in Zumba Gold and Strong by Zumba. Ruby stresses that you don’t need to be a “dancer” to enjoy Zumba...

Exercise to Notice for September 2017 – Pulling Down the Heavens – Video

Pulling down the heavens is a Qigong exercise that is considered to be an energetic sleeping pill for those that have insomnia or that may have trouble sleeping. It takes heat out of the head and pushes it down to the earth. It works because energetically, one of the things that keeps us from deep sleep is monkey mind issues. This is when the brain is especially active at bedtime. By taking the heat from the brain and pushing it down, you relax the brain and relax the thinking process, which allows the brain to sleep in peace. Instructions...

Member on Fire for September 2017 Larry Cohen

Larry joined the Auburn Fit1 family in March of this year. He recently retired and was looking for a fitness facility. We are so pleased to have Larry as a member. You would think he has been here since our opening! Larry tries to work out five days a week – rarely, does he find the time to do more, and often he gets side-tracked and will do less, but he always aims for five! Larry mixes cardio and weights most days, but tries to have at least one day of pure cardio, which helps him with his backpacking (carrying 35 pounds on his back for 10...

Member on Fire for August 2017 Tony Hinds

On January 21st of this year, while moving to our new home, I slipped and fell out of a truck and shattered my left knee (splitting both my tibia and fibula). I then spent five days at Auburn Faith having reconstructive surgery. Docs said my leg wouldn’t be able to bear any weight for ten weeks and were not optimistic about me making a full recovery due to the extreme damage. They also informed me that I might need a total replacement and sooner rather than later. When I was finally released from the hospital and could put partial weight on...
