Nellie Neves
Nellie has been a substitute instructor for us at Auburn Fit1, and she is now teaching the Wednesday morning Zumba class at 8:30 a.m. Her teaching style is fast, but she gives great modifications. She believes that if you are going to work out, then you may as well do a really good job at it!
She enjoys the normal Zumba rhythms, but tends to lean toward Kumbia and Reggaeton. She loves hip hop, but keeps her music clean.
Nellie started taking Zumba eight years ago. She has a reconstructed knee and ankle and felt that working out was too painful. Zumba gave her her health back, and she loved it so much that she knew she had to teach it. Four years ago, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). Many people thought she would quit teaching, but Nellie believes it gives her another reason to love teaching Zumba. Zumba helps her to keep moving and coordinated through her struggles.
Nellie recently moved back to the Sacramento Valley from the Fresno Valley. She describes her life as being in a state of flex. She is selling her home in Citrus Heights, looking for a new home, and home-schooling her seven-year-old daughter for the first time. “Until the music starts, when I hear the music, everything makes sense and it’s time to party.”
Come meet Nellie and give her class a try!
