Said to be the easiest pose to perform and the hardest pose to accomplish Shavasana is everybody’s favorite pose no matter how long we have been practicing yoga, and with good reason. It is why we came to yoga; to free the mind. Shavasana is an essential part of yoga practice because it allows for integration of all of the poses we have done throughout class time. This helps us reflect on life and the reality that all our efforts are not as powerful as our intent and our willingness to accept the present moment as the creator of the next.

When we can finally free our bodies of tension, our minds can slow down and have the opportunity to stop perseveration. This gives the emotions an outlet for release and finally, our spirits are able to flow freely. This is the goal of Shavasana; complete integration of our beings in perfect acceptance of the moment.

To experience Shavasana, please attend one of our yoga classes on Monday and Wednesday at 6:45 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday at 9:45 a.m. and Saturday at 10:45 a.m.
